Our Approach to Training

We place the actor's own creativity at the centre of theatre training. We do not see actors as machines, simply producing what directors require of them; instead we give them an approach to acting and a method that they can use independently and that they can extend for themselves. We encourage in them a strong sense of the importance of a company and of theatre as a collaborative process.

We are as keen on developing their openness, generosity and positivity in rehearsal as we are on building in them an impressive self-reliance and inventiveness. We want our students to be receptive to very different kinds of theatre and never to be dogmatic about ideas or theories.

We make great demands on those who we select and they deliver what we ask and succeed because we believe in them. Above all, we provide a positive, dynamic and welcoming environment where people get the chances they need.
